The England Men’s U19 Futsal team is competing in the UEFA U19 European Futsal Championships pre-qualifying tournament in Lithuania from the 18th-21st January 2023. There, the team will face Malta, Estonia and Lithuania in a group format with the winner entering the main qualifying round in March 2023.
Tasked with leading the Young Lions is Interim Head Coach Sion Kitson, supported by Pete Vallance and Andy Reading as Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach respectively.
After receiving recommendations from Futsal Clubs In Tiers 1, 2 & 3, we have reviewed match footage and watched players live resulting in a select group being invited to form the squad representing the Young Lions in this competition.
With such a quick turn-around between officially being given the responsibility of the National Teams and the start of the tournament our Talent ID process is obviously very different from what it will be in the future. We look forward to rolling out our Regional Talent Centres for both the male and the female pathways in the months ahead.
