The England Futsal National Youth Cup Finals delivered some unforgettable action at the University of Derby Sports Centre last weekend.
Saturday saw the U14s competition reach its conclusion. For the girls it was two unmissable games, with late turnarounds handing Merseyside County Schools FA the Plate trophy and crowning Tyneside Tigers the national futsal champions. For the boys, it was two comfortable victories for London Escolla Futsal Club in the Plate final and Ascot United FC in the Main Round finale on Saturday night.
Our Lionesses, Laura Tobin and Kirstie Kural were in attendance all day to award our Player of the Match awards and interview the stars.
U14 Girls Plate Final – MCSFA 5 – 4 Haringey Girls
U14 Boys Plate Final – London Escolla 14 – 3 Sunderland Foundation of Light
U14 Girls Main Round Final – Tyneside Tigers 4 – 3 Braintree Futsal Club
U14 Boys Main Round Final – Ascot United FC 14 – 1 West Yorkshire Futsal Club
The drama continued on Sunday as the U16s finals got underway with a thriller in the Boys Plate between Milton Keynes-based A Star Futsal Club and Essex-based Gol FFC, A Star emerging victorious. Manchester’s Sala Futsal Club beat Hutton FC of Weston-Super-Mare in the Girls Plate before Tranmere Rovers edged another scorcher against City of Peteborough Futsal Centre in the Boys Main Round. Liverpool’s Project Futsal closed out Finals weekend by becoming Girls National Champions against Haringey on Sunday evening.
It was Lionesses Jade Grove and Ella Brennan on duty on Sunday as they shared the moment with each of the winning teams.
