England Futsal have recruited 8 casual coach developers to drive the development of coaches and futsal coaching practice across the game during 2025. Ensuring coaches are able to access meaningful and relevant opportunities to develop is a key priority for England Futsal and we are pleased to announce we have recruited 8 coach developers who possess a huge wealth and knowledge for futsal and coaching.
The 8 Coach Developers will be overseen by our Lead Coach Developer Mark Simmons, and each have been geographically selected to ensure more regional support for coaches in addition to supporting the delivery of national coach development opportunities.
There are 4 key roles that the Coach Developers will undertake;
- Support coaches through locally designed coach mentoring projects
- Collaborate with local partners to provide regional ‘in person’ CPD events to support coaches through the coaching pathway
- Deliver a mix of online and ‘in person’ national CPD events
- Build and nurture a connected coaching community
Head of Development & Technical, Sion Kitson, commented on the announcement. ‘Our aim is to increase the amount and variety of coach development events available to coaches over the next 9 months. The Coach Developer team will play a pivotal role in enabling a wide range of CPD opportunities and given the vast experience amongst the team I am hugely excited about the opportunities they will create for coaches to benefit from.’
Working along side the Coach Developers, National Team Coaches, John Tapia Owens and Pete Vallance as well as Sion Kitson and Will Roberts, (an experienced Coach Educator and Developer across multiple sports) will support the delivery of the England Futsal Coach Development offer adding further expertise. A mixed economy model will be adopted where some events will be made available for free and others accompanied with a cost.
